School of Pharmacy hosts 20th Walgreens/Mossberg Rx Scholarship Golf Classic

The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy will hold its 20th Annual Walgreens/Howard & Ginger Mossberg Rx Scholarship Golf Classic on Friday, Sept. 8, 2023 at Falcon Lakes Golf Club in Basehor, Kansas. School of Pharmacy alumni, faculty, staff and friends are invited to register. Event sponsorships are also available for businesses to support KU Pharmacy scholarships.

Check-in will be from 1-1:45 p.m. with a shotgun start for the four-person scramble at 2 p.m. An awards banquet will be held following the tournament at 6:30 p.m. in the Falcon Lakes clubhouse. KU's football game against Illinois has been rescheduled for 6:30 p.m., Sept. 8, so golfers can watch part of the game at the banquet and still make it back to Lawrence for the second half. Participant prizes include first, second and third place teams in two flights; closest to the pin for both men and women; and longest putt for both men and women.

The School of Pharmacy is grateful for Walgreens sponsoring this year's tournament. Additional sponsorships are available to support scholarships: $2,500 corporate sponsorships, $1,250 small business/organization sponsorships, and $600 to sponsor a team of KU Pharmacy student golfers. Sponsorship packages include different promotional opportunities at the event depending on the level. Packages are limited and will be first come, first served. Registrations and sponsorships will be accepted until Aug. 15 or until sold out. Proceeds from the Walgreens/Howard & Ginger Mossberg Rx Scholarship Golf Classic will fund scholarships in the KU School of Pharmacy. These scholarships help offset the growing cost of a high-quality pharmacy education at KU and make it possible for more students to pursue a pharmacy career.

Howard Mossberg served as dean of the KU School of Pharmacy for 25 years and later became KU’s Vice Chancellor for Research, Graduate Studies and Public Service. Dean Mossberg passed away in 2018 at age 85. He was married to Ginny for 62 years, and their wish was to support pharmacy students through the Mossberg Pharmacy Scholarship Fund at the KU Endowment Association.
