Graduate School Deadlines

Summer 2016

June 7 Classes begin
June 14 If a student was enrolled during Spring 2016 and meets all requirements for August 2016 graduation by this date, the student is not required to enroll for Summer 2016.  All the requirements listed below under July 29th must be completed by June 14th.

July 13

Or two weeks prior to defense

Last day for doctoral candidates to notify the School by email (pharmacy@ku.edu) of your defense date. (Must include your name, title, time, date, location of defense, as well as your outside member name, campus address, and their email address). This is not a requirement for a master’s.  The school must be notified at least two weeks before your defense date.

July 27

Last day to defend thesis or dissertation

July 29
  • Last day for Summer 2016 master’s and doctoral candidates to submit the online application for degree form. This is found under ‘graduation’ on Enroll & Pay.
  • (MDCM & PHCH Doctoral tract students must complete the online application for degree form for the Master’s upon completion of your “comprehensive oral for doctorate”. P&TX doctoral tract students do not fill out the Master’s degree form.)
  • Last day for Summer 2016 master’s and doctoral candidates to electronically submit thesis or dissertation online.
  • Last day to deliver signed Acceptance Page, signed Title Page, and copy of the email confirmation of completion of the Doctoral Completion Survey (doctoral candidates only) to the School of Pharmacy.  These materials may be submitted in person to Patti Steffan at the Dean’s Office, 2010 Becker Drive, Suite 2050, or via email at psteffan@ku.edu.

August degrees awarded (formally conferred at May 2017 Commencement)

Fall 2016

August 22 Classes begin
September 6 If a student was enrolled during Summer session 2016 and meets all degree requirements¹ for Fall 2016 graduation by this date, the student is not required to enroll for Fall semester 2016. All of the requirements listed below under December 16th must be completed by September 6th.

December 2

Or two weeks prior to defense

Last day for doctoral candidates to notify the School by email (pharmacy@ku.edu) of your defense date. (Must include your name, title, time, date, location of defense, as well as your outside member name, campus address, and their email address). This is not a requirement for a master’s.  The school must be notified at least two weeks before your defense date.

If student was enrolled during Fall 2016 and meets all degree requirements¹ for Spring 2017 graduation by this date, the student will not be required to enroll for Spring 2017. All of the requirements listed below under May 12th must be completed by January 31th

February 27

Last date to submit the online application for degree form to assure inclusion in the Commencement program. This is found under 'graduation' on Enroll & Pay.

(Doctoral tract students must complete the online application for degree form for the Master's upon completion of your "comprehensive oral for doctorate". This is a requirement set forth by the University Registrar's office.

April 26

University degree requirements include:

a) Electronic filing of thesis or dissertation; b) submission of paperwork to the Graduate Division office of the school; and c) submission of the Application for Graduation in Enroll & Pay. Consult with your department for additional degree requirements.
