School of Pharmacy Career Placement Day

Thursday, January 24, 2013

The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy will host its annual Senior Pharmacy Student Career Placement Day and Undergraduate Pharmacy Student Career Information Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Lawrence Holiday Inn Holidome, 200 McDonald Drive.

About 80 May 2013 doctor of pharmacy degree candidates and 100 undergraduate pharmacy students will participate in the annual event, where they will learn about post-graduate career and residency positions as well as summer internships and part-time employment opportunities for returning students.

More than 30 potential employers, including independent and chain retail pharmacies, hospital and mail-order pharmacies, and the US Army will be on hand to meet and interview students. Representatives of several post-graduate residency programs will also attend.

The career fair is coordinated through the School of Pharmacy dean’s office. Senior Associate Dean Gene Hotchkiss acts as the school’s career placement coordinator and is responsible for planning the event. The school also provides assistance to students in the job search process, helping them in the creation of résumés and the improvement of interview skills.
