American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Students of Pharmacy

The American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) is the largest pharmacy student organization, with over 30,000 members. ASP is a part of APhA, which includes pharmacists from all specialties within the profession including hospital, research, ambulatory care, and many more. Membership in APhA-ASP will then allow networking with fellow students and pharmacists in many practice areas, nationwide.

The mission of the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists is to be the collective voice of student pharmacists, to provide opportunities for professional growth, to improve patient care, and to envision and advance the future of pharmacy.

Membership in APhA-ASP is open to all students enrolled in The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy. Membership fees are $63 for the current academic year and include membership in APhA, APhA-ASP, and Kansas Pharmacist Association (KPhA). Members will be able to receive publications such as the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association, Pharmacy Today, Student Pharmacist, and The Kansas Journal of Pharmacy.

The University of Kansas APhA-ASP chapter has various activities planned for the 2013-2014 school year, including Operation Immunization with flu clinics in Lawrence and Wichita, Operation Diabetes, community service projects, fundraising events, health fairs, professional meetings, and social gatherings. This year, APhA-ASP members will have the option of attending several professional meetings, including KPhA Annual Meeting in Overland Park, KS, Region VI Midyear Regional Meeting in Oklahoma City, OK and the APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Orlando Florida. Members are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities as the meetings are designed to give student pharmacists the opportunity to become involved with the members of the professional community.

For many years, APhA-ASP has played a key role in helping students navigate through pharmacy school, explore careers in pharmacy, and connect with others in the profession. We invite you to become a member of this organization, and to participate in our active and innovative chapter.
