Barbara N. Timmermann

Distinguished Professor Barbara Timmermann joined the School of Pharmacy faculty as chair of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry in August of 2005. She came to KU after an academic career of close to 25 years at the University of Arizona, where she attained the title of Regents Professor.

- Bioprospecting for drug lead discovery
She is director of the NIH-funded Center for Cancer Experimental Therapeutics, a Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) and is the PI of KBA/HPI-funded Native Medicinal Plants of Kansas project. She earned a B.S. in Biology at the National University of Cordoba, Argentina in 1970, and an M.S. in 1977 and a Ph.D. in 1980 in Botany/Phytochemistry at the University of Texas, Austin.
